Common Name:  Alkali Bluet

Latin Name:  Enallagma clausum Morse, 1895
                        (R. Bercha, det.)

Length:  24 - 37 mm

Range: SE corner of Alberta

Habitat: Saline lakes and ponds

Time of year seen:  June to August  (Additional Sightings)

Diet: Insects

Other:  An inhabitant of saline lakes and ponds in the parkland and prairie regions of Alberta. The Alkali Bluet is found in southeastern Alberta, down into the northwestern United States and up through the interior of British Columbia to the Caribou region.  In Alberta it is found as far west as Calgary (Bercha) and north to Gull Lake (Acorn, 2004).
