Latin Name:  Otophorus haemorrhoidalis  Linnaeus, 1758

Length:   4.1 - 5.4 mm

Range: Throughout Alberta

Habitat:

Diet: Organic matter, roots and dung

Other:  A widespread introduced species found across North America.  Adult beetles prefer bovine dung.  Beetles are  black with brownish red patches on the posterior tips of the elytra (wing covers).
