Stiletto Fly - this one has a deformed wing.

Common Name:  Stiletto Fly

Latin Name:  Family Therevidae
                        (R. Bercha, det.)

Length:   4 - 12 mm

Range: Throughout Alberta

Habitat:  Open areas

Time of year seen:  Summer


Other:  The Stiletto Fly gets its name from its tapered abdomen.  They are medium sized flies with grayish coloration.  The occurrence of these flies is uncommon.
