Common Name:  Satin Moth, White Satin Moth

Latin Name:  Leucoma salicis Linnaeus, 1758
                        (R. Bercha, det.)

Wingspan:  37 - 50 mm

Range: Expanding eastward

Habitat:  Various

Time of year seen: June to August (Additional Sightings)

Caterpillar's Diet:  Poplar, cottonwood, aspen and willow

Other: This moth is an exotic which was introduced to North America in the 1920's (In British Columbia and New England). Since then its range has expanded as much as 700 km inland.
